HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR LABELS?
So glad you asked! (actually I wrote this question ... but I'm so excited to tell you) When our favorite local children's bookstore went out of business I bought one of their typewriters. I fell in love and my husband thought I was insane. It's an early 70s era Olympia manual typewriter with a two tone ribbon and I hand type each and every label for my standard glass and tin candles. This means that no two candles are exactly alike, and each gets my personal attention from start to finish.
For seasonal, holiday, and custom designs I usually create the digital artwork myself or in collaboration with my clients. However, if you're an artist or would like to see something specific on a label I'm happy to work with you!
WHAT INGREDIENTS DO YOU USE?
Simplicity, authenticity, and safety heavily influence my choices. I source 100% soy wax manufactured in the US from a distributor in Portland. The wicks I use are cotton and paper wicks from the same distributor. I don't add any dyes, UV inhibitors, or other 'extras' to keep things simple.
When it comes to fragrances, it can be difficult to know with confidence what is safe to burn! I get a lot of questions about essential oils, as these are often viewed as a more natural method to add fragrance. While this can be true, my research made it clear that essential oils often are not always safe to burn. Essential oils also vary in concentration, and do not perform well at higher temperatures compared to fragrance oils. For these reasons, I pour candles using fragrance oils. The fragrance oils I choose are often infused with natural essential oils, and all are IFRA (International Fragrance Association) compliant. These scents also DO NOT contain any pthalates, carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins, organ toxins, acute toxins or any ingredients that would trigger a CA Prop 65 warning. Unfortunately the nature of fragrance oils is that the chemistry is complicated, but I feel confident knowing that I'm taking steps to ensure that the fragrances I use are very high quality. It's important to me that you're comfortable with the products that you bring into your home.
Also, I pour all of these scents, so if there is a scent that bothers me I simply won't pour or sell it. These products are what I use and work with every day, and keeping things safe and effective is incredibly important to me.

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS?
If you buy from the website using a credit card the payment processor is Square. I trust their security and industry leading reputation. If you are uncomfortable paying online, I'm always happy to accept physical payment or send an invoice. Both options are available in our online checkout, or if it isn't clear how to process your payment please get in touch and we will figure it out!
DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR SHIPPING?
Shipping is honestly something that I struggle with. I am committed to providing a high end product at a reasonable price and I feel that the fairest way to do this is to charge for shipping on all orders under $100. I am constantly trying to find the most cost effective solutions to ship products and I hope that my shipping prices can decrease as my order volume increases. However, if you live in Clark County (WA), Portland (OR), or Corvallis (OR) I would be happy to deliver your products to you for a reduced cost or arrange a pickup for no charge. Please select the appropriate delivery choice from the shipping drop down during checkout. I'm also happy to arrange pickup/delivery on an individual basis in Oregon and Washington depending on the order and availability. Please send me an email and we'll get it figured out!
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
If you are dissatisfied for any reason please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org within 7 days of receipt of your products. Because of the custom nature of our products, refunds and exchanges will only be provided in case of a defective or damaged item. No returns because of dissatisfaction with the scent after lighting the candle (However I’m happy to exchange any unlit candle for a different scent)
When we receive a valid warranty claim for a product purchased from us, we will either repair the relevant defect or replace the product. If we are unable to repair or replace the product within a reasonable time, the customer will be entitled to a full refund and a credit will be applied to the original method of payment.
